Image Size Guidelines

Ideal Directories supports .jpg, .jpeg, and .png image file types. While we automatically size down images for optimal page load speed, we have a 10MB limit on image upload size. If your image is larger than 10MB, you will need to reduce the size prior to uploading.

Below you'll find the recommended image sizes for all areas on your directory website...

1. Directory Logo Image

To make your site look its best, your logo should be wider than it is tall. The recommended size is about 700 pixels wide x 200 pixels tall (3.5:1 ratio). You can use a larger image, just make sure it's rectangular in dimensions, and roughly 3.5 times as wide as it is tall.

2. Homepage Hero Images

The Homepage Hero Image appears toward the top of your site's homepage, behind the search bar, and should be approximately 1,500 pixels wide x 1,000 pixels tall (1.5:1 ratio). Regardless of the size of the image you upload, however, since this is a background image, users may see different parts of the image, depending on the screen size of the device they're using. 

3. Listing Primary Image

A listing's Primary Image is the image that appears on the Homepage, Browse Listings page, and in search results. You can upload images up to 10MB and any dimensions. If you'd like the image to completely fill the content area and make sure none of the image gets cropped, then you need to make sure they are all the same dimensions: 760 pixels wide x 520 pixels tall (1.5: 1 ratio)
